Drie weken Marxisme Meetings
In plaats van ons jaarlijkse Marxisme Festival organiseerden de Internationale Socialisten dit jaar een reeks Marxisme Meetings. Afgelopen zondag was de laatste bijeenkomst. Hier vindt je het hele overzicht van de bijeenkomsten zodat je ze makkelijk kunt terugkijken.

Donderdag 21 mei, 20:00 – Covid-19: kapitalisme ontmaskerd 

Het coronavirus legt de absurditeit? van het kapitalisme bloot. Terwijl werkende mensen in onzekerheid zijn gestort, kunnen multinationals rekenen op miljardensubsidies. Wat zegt dit over het kapitalisme? Hoe brengen we een definitieve breuk met dit systeem dichterbij?

Vrijdag 29 mei, 20:00 – Ingelaste bijeenkomst: Het dreigende pensioenakkoord: wat staat er op het spel?

Het kabinet, bazen en de vakbondstop lijken eruit met de uitwerking van een nieuw pensioenstelsel. Van een vaststaand pensioen voor alle werkenden gaan we toe naar een systeem waarin alleen onze inleg vaststaat. Tien jaar geleden werd deze inrichting nog terecht door de vakbondsleiding een casinopensioen genoemd.

Hans Lammers, plaatsvervangend lid van het FNV-ledenparlement en lid van de Internationale Socialisten interviewt Sjarrel Massop hierover. Sjarrel is actief in het actiecomité Red het Pensioenstelsel en publiceert onder andere voor de website solidariteit.

Zondag 31 mei, 13:00 – Leesgroep: Feminisme voor de 99% marxisme en sociale reproductie

In deze leesgroep staan we stil bij de rol van reproductieve arbeid in het draaiende houden van het kapitalistische systeem. Hierbij lezen we onder andere een deel van het manifest feministische voor de 99%.

Donderdag 4 juni, 20:00 – Reading Group: Marx’s Ecology and the Climate Crisis

Spurred by the rise of the climate movement, there has been more interest in Marx’s writings on ecology and his idea of a metabolic rift. In this session we will read an article by the socialist John Bellamy Foster who has done much to uncover Marx’s contribution to the field of ecology.

Vrijdag 5 juni, 20:00 – De aanval op het recht op zelfbeschikking

Het recht op zelfbeschikking wordt steeds verder bedreigd door rechtse en extreemrechtse partijen. Ook staten nemen maatregelen die de toegang tot bijvoorbeeld abortus beperken. Dit proces lijkt zich met de coronacrisis zelfs te versnellen. Op wat voor manier staat het recht op zelfbeschikking nu onder druk?

Zaterdag 6 juni, 16:00 – Covid-19, Modi’s rule and the left response in India

The impact of the coronavirus on workers in India has been devastating. More than a hundred million are now without a job and many have been forced to move back to the villages. The economic crisis comes just months after massive protests broke out against Modi’s racist new law that reduces muslims to second-rate citizens.

Zondag 7 juni, 13:00 – Leesgroep: marx, klasse en racisme

Door sommigen van zijn tegenstanders wordt Marx een aandacht voor de economie boven alles verweten. Dit idee staat op gespannen voet met veel wat Marx schreef over kolonialisme, de tot slaaf gemaakten in de Verenigde Staten en de manier waarop de Britse heersende klasse racisme tegen de Ieren aanwakkerde.

Vrijdag 12 juni, 20:00 – De neofascistische wortels van Forum voor Democratie

In deze bijeenkomst staan we stil bij de manier waarop fascisten na de Tweede Wereldoorlog hun giftige gedachtegoed weer hebben weten te normaliseren. Wat is fascisme? Wat verstaan we onder nieuwrechts? En hoe verhoudt Forum voor Democratie zich tot deze stroming?

Sunday 14 june, 19:00 – Closing meeting: Policy brutality, racism and capitalism in the US

The brutal police murder of George Floyd has triggered a massive uprising against racism. In this meeting two people active in the Black Lives Matter movement will talk about the background to this uprising, the popularity of the demand calling for the dismantling of the police and the prospects for the movement with a US-election coming up in autumn.
