Workers or settlers? Zionism, Apartheid, and the Israeli working class

As the ethnic cleansing of the Palestians continues with a brutal bombing campaign, there is little discussion on the nature of the Israeli state. Is it ‘just another state that does bad things’? What is the driving force behind the apartheid system? And is there potential for revolutionary change from within Israeli society and what could be the role of the Israeli working class?
In this meeting we will take a look at the history of the working class in the Zionist project, its complicity in the occupation and colonisation of Palestine, and our perspectives for what it takes to liberate Palestine and create a society with equal rights for Muslims, Jewish people, Christians and atheists alike. We will look at similarities and differences between Israel and Apartheid in South Africa, and draw lessons for the struggle today.
- The discussion will be introduced by Max Pogrzeba of the International Socialists.
- The meeting will be in English. Contributions in Dutch are welcome and will be translated.
