The rise of the far-right

The latest fashion amongst fascists is to attack the LGBTQIA+ community – almost every week there are attacks in Dutch cities of Arnhem, Groningen and Eindhoven. These attacks are consciously coordinated by far right groups: they copy tactics from the US using the ‘concern for children’ as a pretext to attack the LGBTQIA+ community.
Under pressure of the ever more stratified media channels of the far right, over the last years, traditional conservative parties are copying the language of fascists like Wilders and Baudet. This has a major impact on consolidating the hegemony of far right ideologies (and conspiracy theories) in Dutch society.
It is very important that in Rotterdam mid-April an attempt to attack a reading session by drag people was halted. Organized leftwing and queer organisations had 450 people on the streets, outnumbering the fascists tenfold. Still, we have to be prepared for future attacks. Sooner or later (sooner is more probable) they will happen in Zuid-Limburg as well. How can we stop fascism?
