Protest Europese steden tegen Israël

40.000 demonstranten in Oslo, Noorwegen

Afgelopen dagen hebben miljoenen mensen wereldwijd tegen de Israëlische invasie van Gaza gedemonstreerd. Londen zag met meer dan 150.000 demonstranten de grootste Palestina demonstratie in Groot-Brittannië ooit. In Frankrijk demonstreerden 100.000 mensen in 80 verschillende steden. In Noorwegen legden de treinmachinisten en metrobestuurders 2 minuten het werk stil uit solidariteit met de Palestijnen. Ook in Nederland werd er in diverse steden geprotesteerd, waaronder een demonstratie van 200 mensen in Groningen.

Hieronder het gedicht dat Michael Rosen op de demonstratie in Londen voordroeg:

In Gaza, children,
you learn that the sky kills
and that houses hurt.
You learn that your blanket is smoke
and breakfast is dirt.

You learn that cars do somersaults
clothes turn red,
friends become statues,
bakers don’t sell bread.

You learn that the night is a gun,
that toys burn

if they send you fire
they couldn’t guess:
not just the soldier dies -
it’s you and the rest.
